Tapis-Siège:

the Miami Prototype (1968/2014)

As early as 1968, Pierre Paulin was in touch with the firm Herman Miller.

He developed for the American company an ambitious range of modular furniture, aimed at the domestic market, of which the Rug-Seat forms a part.

The unconventional project did not match the commercial goals of the American firm and it was never marketed.

In 2014, Paulin Paulin Paulin formed a partnership with the Louis Vuitton brand which supported an exhibit entitled “Playing with Shapes” at the Design Miami venue, where the first prototypes were displayed, fifty years after they were first created.

This Tapis-Siège is the prototype made in 2014 in association with Louis Vuitton.
