Alpha Club

In 1972, Pierre Paulin was commissioned by Claude and Georges Pompidou to redesign the private apartments of the Élysée Palace.

Embracing the existing architecture, he covered floors, walls, and ceilings, and introduced a new modular system, transforming the space into a total environment.

The Alpha collection is undeniably inspired by the plant world.
Numerous books brought back from trips to Japan reflect Paulin’s interest in typography, as well as in Japanese mon — family emblems that stylize natural forms into graphic symbols.

While not the sole influence, these crests seem to find a three-dimensional echo in the eight-petal silhouette of the Alpha chair.
